New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP) MP Sudhanshu Trivedi lambasted the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi over alleged gross negligence in regulating coaching institutes and sewerage in the national capital which led to the death of three students at a coaching centre in Delhi.
Slamming the Delhi government, Trivedi said that those who were responsible for the deaths did not even show any sign of tension on their faces, let alone shed tears.
“The government which should have regulated the coaching institutes seriously failed to do so. The incident which took place is very unfortunate…It is sad that those who were responsible for them, not only did they not shed any tears nor did they have any tension on their faces (Jinke aankhon main aasu rehne chahiye. unke chehre par shikan tak nahi ayi)…,” Trivedi said speaking at the Upper House on Monday.
Trivedi also pointed out that the incident was not sudden but several complaints and reminders were given to the authorities the latest one being on July 26.
“This incident did not take place suddenly. Students filed complaints, and reminders were sent, but no one listened. One of them was made on July 26…The government did not pay any heed,” Trivedi said adding, “This is not just irresponsible but also a criminal negligence which has put students lives at risk.”
Continuing his attack at the Aam Aadmi Party, Trivedi hit out at the Delhi government over their promise to bring about “new politics”, saying people are now able to see how dangerous this is proving to be.
“They were ruling for so long and used to say they did not have enough power. Today they have the state government, MCD. They used to say they will bring new politcs. It can be seen how dangerous the new politics is proving to be? It is putting people’s lives at risk,” he said.
The BJP MP put forth some key questions before the Delhi government in the Upper House- “Which department gave permission to work in the basement? Was there any inspection after giving permission? What action was taken when a complaint was made? Were sludge from slit pipes of neighbouring sewerage systems cleaned?”
Three students died after the basement of the building housing Rau’s Study Circle in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded following rains. The students complained that the biometric access was mandated to enter libraries which were located mostly in the basements. (ANI)
