New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) troops, in collaboration with Punjab police, recovered one packet of suspected heroin at village Dal in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, said BSF on Saturday.
Based on information from the BSF intelligence wing about the presence of narcotics in the border area of district Tarn Taran, an extensive search operation was launched in the suspected areas. The search culminated at about 1:00 pm on Saturday with the recovery of a 568-gramme packet of suspected heroin, said BSF in a press release.
The narcotics were wrapped with yellow and white adhesive tape and an improvised metal wire loop was found attached to the packet. This recovery took place in a farming field in village Dal, said the release.
Earlier, in a successful joint search operation by BSF and Punjab Police, the troops recovered one packet of suspected heroin weighing 550 grammes in a farming field adjacent to village Daoke in Amritsar district, said BSF on Friday.
Based on specific information from the BSF intelligence wing about heroin presence, received on October 3, the forces swung into action and successfully recovered one narcotics packet in the night hours, said BSF.
The narcotics packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and further secured with blue tape. A steel ring and a mini torch were also found attached to the packet, according to the PRO.
Additionally, SAS Nagar Police busted an international drug syndicate and arrested two persons, Sukhdeep Singh and Krishan. The raid led to the seizure of 1.5 kg of heroin and the exposure of Afghan handlers based in Delhi, connected with international drug cartels. Arrested Sukhdeep Singh was previously involved in a kidnapping case in 2020 and has been out on bail since May 2024. (ANI)
