Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 26 (ANI): The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has issued a weather forecast on Wednesday predicting light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in the state. These conditions may cause low visibility that could disrupt traffic and lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas if they persist.
According to the IMD’s forecast for Shimla city, “Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning most likely to continue with low visibility conditions. It is likely to lead to traffic disruption, water logging in low-lying areas, slippery & wet roads, low visibility, and minor damage to vulnerable structures.”
The IMD’s forecast for Himachal Pradesh states that various districts will experience different levels of rainfall. In Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, and Sirmaur, there will be “few spells of light to moderate rainfall at many places with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places most likely.” The IMD warns that intense rainfall is likely at isolated locations in these districts, which could cause traffic issues and other hazards.
In Shimla, Una, and Kullu, light to moderate rainfall is also expected, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in isolated areas. The forecast adds, “It is likely to lead to traffic disruption, water logging in low-lying areas, slippery & wet roads, low visibility, and minor damage to vulnerable structures.”
Additionally, light rainfall is likely in the remaining districts of the state. The past 24 hours saw a maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16.2 degrees Celsius recorded in Shimla. The area experienced 4 mm of rainfall, leading to a high relative humidity of 95 percent this morning.
Looking ahead, the weather forecast for Shimla indicates thunderstorms with rain today, with maximum temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius. Similar conditions are expected over the next few days, with cloudy skies and light rain predicted.
According to the IMD, residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this weather. (ANI)
