New Delhi [India], September 3 (ANI): Former Union Minister Smriti Irani took a jibe against the Opposition for alleged derogatory remarks hurled at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a public meeting in Bihar.
Smriti Irani said that the alleged remark “outrages the entire country” as PM Modi’s mother had no connection to politics and struggled in poverty.
In a video message on Tuesday, the BJP leader said, “The insult of PM Modi’s late mother by opposition leaders on a political platform in Bihar is something that outrages the entire country. That mother had no connection with politics, that mother who struggled in poverty for her family to protect them, that mother who is no longer among us–insulting such a mother causes pain to us all.”
“I believe that the mothers and sisters of the country and Bihar will give a befitting reply to the opposition for this insult,” Irani added.
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD MLA Tejashwi Yadav for not apologising for the alleged derogatory remarks.
“Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are disrespecting PM Modi’s late mother. No one from their party feels ashamed. No one has apologised. INDI alliance disrespects women,” Sinha told ANI.
He added, “These kinds of negative narratives are being set to confuse, provoke and undermine the social harmony of a developed Bihar. They are people of a demonic mindset. They do not care about development and women’s empowerment.”
Bihar Dy CM Samrat Choudhary criticised the INDIA bloc for “disgracing” the democracy with such remarks.
He said, “We too are very saddened that the Congress and the Mahagathbandhan have disgraced democracy in this manner… We too can feel the pain that the Prime Minister must be going through.”
He added that Bihar’s public is standing with PM Modi.
“No event that disgraces democracy is more unfortunate than the use of indecent language against the Prime Minister’s mother by a political organisation. The entire Bihar is heartbroken and stands with the Prime Minister,” Choudhary said.
Meanwhile, the NDA has announced a statewide bandh in Bihar on September 4 against the opposition over abusive language against PM Modi and his late mother.BJP’s Bihar state president, Dilip Jaiswal, said the five-hour bandh will be observed from 7 am to 12 noon.
Amid the ongoing row, Delhi minister Kapil Mishra said that the public is enraged against the Opposition.
He told reporters, “There is anger throughout the public. There is immense anger everywhere in the country. The kind of language used against the late mother of the Prime Minister has also caused anger, and the fact that none of their leaders have apologised for it… The public will give a befitting reply for this.”
Uttar Pradesh Dy CM Brajesh Pathak demanded an apology and said, “It is true that today the women, sisters, and daughters of the entire country, especially Bihar, are very upset. The way these people have tarnished India’s culture by using such words towards a mother is very heartbreaking. The people of the RJD-Congress and the INDI alliance should apologise to the people of the country. In the coming days, the people of the country, and especially the people of Bihar, will definitely give a befitting response to the INDI alliance, Congress people, and Tejashwi Yadav for this.”
This comes after PM Modi on Tuesday took an indirect jibe at the INDIA bloc leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, calling them “namdaars”, people born with a silver spoon who, he said, cannot understand the struggles of poor mothers or the suffering and pain of their children, as for them, “power” is “inheritance”.
Referring to alleged derogatory remarks made during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, PM Modi said, “The struggles (Tapasya) of a poor mother, the suffering of her son–these young princes born into royal families cannot understand. These ‘naamdaar’ people were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them.” (ANI)
