Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency on October 20 to lay the foundation stone for 23 projects worth Rs 1300 crore.

Preparations are underway in Varanasi ahead of PM Modi’s visit on Sunday. Earlier on Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved a rail-cum-road bridge across Ganga traversing through Varanasi and Chandauli districts of Uttar Pradesh, which will be an engineering marvel with a six-lane highway upper deck and four-line railway lower deck.
Notably, ahead of his visit to Varanasi, PM Modi posted on X, “We are leaving no stone unturned for the comfort and convenience of the people of Kashi. In this regard, a rail-road bridge has been approved over the Ganga. This will not only provide better connectivity to pilgrims, tourists and the people here but will also create new opportunities for employment and business.”
The total estimated cost of the project will be approximately Rs 2,642 crore and will be completed in four years, as per the official press release. The proposed project will improve logistical efficiency by connecting the unconnected areas, and enhancing transportation networks, resulting in streamlined supply chains and accelerated economic growth. The project will also generate direct employment for about 10 lakh human-days during construction.
The project is in line with PM Modi’s vision of a New India which will make people of the region “Atmanirbhar” by way of comprehensive development in the area which will enhance their employment/ self-employment opportunities.
Speaking on the PM’s visit here, Commissioner of Varanasi Kaushal Raj Sharma said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a program in Varanasi on October 20. He will lay the foundation stone of several projects; he will address the public also… He will lay the foundation stone for 23 projects from Varanasi.” (ANI)
