New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): After a row erupted over eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar being asked to display their owners’ names, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is filled with hatred against the people from backward and minority communities and is desperate to destroy their employment after the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the matter.
“BJP is filled with hatred against Dalits, minorities, and backward communities. After the BJP’s defeat in the elections, they have decided to destroy their employment. Now Yogi Ji has brought in a new diktat stating that nameplates must be there in front of eateries,” said Sanjay Singh.
“If a person from the backward caste put up a nameplate, then do you think a government that does not allow Dalits to sit next to them, washed the temple when Akhilesh Yadav paid a visit there, under whose regime, Hathras incident happened, will buy things from the shops belonging to the people from the backward castes?” he added further.
He further mentioned that the oil that is used in the country is also imported from Muslim Gulf countries and said that the same oil is used during the Kanwar Yatra as well. Adding to that, he said, “Bringing in such a diktat showcases the BJP’s frustration after general elections in the country.”
Launching an attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Why is PM Modi who gives the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ silent on it?”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra termed the Uttar Pradesh government’s directive to food shops on the Kanwar routes to display the details of their owners as an attack against the Constitution. She said that the directive goes against the constitutional dictate that no citizen shall be discriminated against based on caste, religion, language or place of birth.
On Thursday, the Muzaffarnagar Police urged all eateries along the Kanwar route to “voluntarily display” the names of their owners and employees, adding that the intention of this order is not to create any kind of “religious discrimination” but only to facilitate the devotees. (ANI)
